COMBAR encourages barristers to accept direct instructions from overseas lawyers and other professional advisers. Although barristers are not obliged to accept direct instructions, except from English solicitors, the barristers listed in the COMBAR Directory would welcome direct approaches in appropriate circumstances. Full contact details can be found in the chambers' listing in the Directory. Members of COMBARThe entries given for individual chambers (which have been provided by the chambers and not verified by COMBAR) briefly describe the principal types of work undertaken by the members of those chambers, drawing attention to any areas where they have special expertise, and listing the individual members of chambers with details of their seniority. Most chambers publish brochures of their own, which can be obtained on application from the chambers' Manager or Clerk who is listed under ADMINISTRATION in each entry. Information about members of COMBARShould you wish to enquire further about the work of a particular set of chambers or barrister, either generally or with a view to sending instructions, it is best to contact the Manager or Clerk of the individual chambers concerned or the barrister himself. Most chambers operate a service whereby the Manager or Clerk can be contacted 24 hours a day and at weekends. Details of each chambers' arrangements appear after their individual entries. The Managers or Clerks will explain the basis on which fees will be charged.
