The Combar Gulf Committee was established in 2021 to develop the links which already exist between the English and Welsh commercial and arbitration bar and the legal community in the Gulf States.

2nd Gulf Meeting in Dubai – February 2024

The 2nd Gulf Round table was held in Dubai on Thursday 29^th February 2024 at the Capital Club.   Justice Michael Black, a DIFC Judge in the Court of Appeal and Judge in Charge of the Digital Economy Court (DEC) was our guest of honour and gave a keynote speach.

The meeting involved an afternoon of panel sessions, with speakers from a range of jurisdictions, followed by drinks. The programme may be found here.

Juniors were encouraged to attend and those under 7 years were encouraged to investigate the Young Barristers’ Committees’ International Grant Programme, which offers to pay two thirds of Juniors’ total attendance costs.

Inaugural Gulf Meeting in Dubai – February 2023

The inaugural COMBAR Gulf Meeting took place in Dubai, on Thursday 23 February 2023.  It was hosted at The Capital Club in the DIFC and was generously sponsored by FTI Consulting.

The meeting involved an afternoon of seminars, with an emphasis on collegiate discussion between professionals across a number of jurisdictions, followed by a drinks reception in the evening.  The programme may be found here.
