The Combar Gulf Committee was established in 2021 to develop the links which already exist between the English and Welsh commercial and arbitration bar and the legal community in the Gulf States.
4th Gulf Meeting in Dubai – 12 February 2026
The 4th Gulf Round table will be held in Dubai on Thursday 12th February 2026 at the Capital Club. We remain very grateful to FTI for their ongoing sponsorship.
The meeting will follow a similar format to the successful events held each year since 2023, which involved an afternoon of panel sessions, with speakers from a range of jurisdictions, followed by drinks. The programme for the conference will be published on the this page in due course but until registration opens, we invite you to save the date. 3rd Gulf Meeting in Dubai – 6 February 2025
The 3rd Gulf Round table was held in Dubai on Thursday 6th February 2025 at the Capital Club. The Guest of Honour was Chief Justice Wayne Martin AC KC. FTI were the sponsors for the event.

The meeting followed a similar format to the successful events held in 2023 and 2024, which involved an afternoon of panel sessions, with speakers from a range of jurisdictions, followed by drinks. There were panels on sanctions and current issues in the DIFC courts.
2nd Gulf Meeting in Dubai – 29 February 2024
The 2nd Gulf Round table was held in Dubai on Thursday 29th February 2024 at the Capital Club. Justice Michael Black, a DIFC Judge in the Court of Appeal and Judge in Charge of the Digital Economy Court (DEC) was our guest of honour and gave a keynote speach.
The meeting involved an afternoon of panel sessions, with speakers from a range of jurisdictions, followed by drinks. The programme may be found here.
Juniors were encouraged to attend and those under 7 years were encouraged to investigate the Young Barristers’ Committees’ International Grant Programme, which offers to pay two thirds of Juniors’ total attendance costs.

Inaugural Gulf Meeting in Dubai – February 2023
The inaugural COMBAR Gulf Meeting took place in Dubai, on Thursday 23 February 2023. It was hosted at The Capital Club in the DIFC and was generously sponsored by FTI Consulting.
The meeting involved an afternoon of seminars, with an emphasis on collegiate discussion between professionals across a number of jurisdictions, followed by a drinks reception in the evening. The programme may be found here.
